Join Canberra Youth Theatre and Erth for a brand new roving performance at Enlighten 2025: Sanctuary.
Would you like to perform at Enlighten Festival? Get some seriously impressive puppetry skills? And work with an incredibly cool international arts company? Well lucky you, we’re joining forces once again with Erth at Enlighten Festival, and we’re looking for young artists to get involved!
This roving performance incorporating Erth’s legendary magical puppet creatures is a FREE opportunity that’s open to our whole community: everyone age 7–25.
Performances will be the evenenings of 28 February – 10 March at Glebe Park. You don’t have to be available for all of the performances. Give it a try for a night or two as part of the team! There will be a Canberra Youth Theatre staff member present at all times providing duty of care for under 18s.
All performers are volunteers, and to be a performer you have to go to at least one of the training sessions, which will take place 20–22 February.
Sanctuary – an ode to the natural world
The animals are taking over.
The trees are talking.
Nature is calling to you.
Sanctuary shares a sacred moment, opening a door to the wonder of nature in all its beauty, as elephants, tigers, rhinos, and other rarely seen animals make Glebe Park their home. A new creature, 4 meters in height, will also be revealed: an ancient embodiment of Mother Nature in animal form.
Erth is an internationally renowned company that makes puppetry-based theatrical productions and innovative community projects. We’ve collaborated with Erth on several projects over the years, and can guarantee that participants will have a tremendous experience.
We will have positions for both younger volunteers and emerging artists. There is no cost involved in participating in this project. Some emerging artist positions (age 16+), will also come with mentorship responsibilities for younger participants, and will include a stipend payment.
At this stage, we only need confirmation of interest – just send us an email to let us know you’d like to come on board and general availability during this time to info@canberrayouththeatre.com.au with ‘Erth’ in the subject line.
We’ll then be in touch to follow-up with all the details early in the new year.
