Our training programs bring young people together with professional artists to collaborate, learn new skills, express their creative selves, and create pathways to artistic careers.
Some young people come to Canberra Youth Theatre because they love performance and want to pursue a professional career in the arts. Others just want to have fun, build their confidence and make new friends. Whatever the reason, we create a safe, inclusive space for young people to be creative, share their voice, and explore their passion.
We treat all of our participants as young artists, not children. They will collaborate alongside professional artists who are passionate about supporting young people to think imaginatively, act creatively, and make work that challenges us to see the world from a new perspective. Our young artists are exposed to different types of performance techniques, working together as an ensemble, to discover more about their craft and what it means to be an artist.
We offer a range of workshops for school age artists in years 1 to 12. Artists between the ages of 18 to 25 come under our Emerging Artists Program.
We are committed to diversity and acknowledge that some of the best art comes from working with artists from a range of backgrounds and abilities. If you have any access requirements or special needs, please get in touch – email@example.com or 02 6248 5057
