Teacher Professional Learning

Canberra Youth Theatre offers a series of Professional Learning workshops for teachers to further their creative teaching practice, and their connection to one of Australia’s leading youth arts organisations. We are fostering this relationship through:

  • Hosting networking opportunities.
  • Facilitating training for educators looking to add new ideas and fresh approaches to their teaching.
  • Provide resources to assist teachers in approaching and planning creative education classes.

Our Teacher Professional Learning Courses are TQI and NESA Accredited and focus on equipping teachers with the confidence to bring intelligent and challenging theatre into their classrooms through strategic, and engaging drama exercises. Aligned with the Australian Curriculum and Teacher Professional Standards, these courses are rooted in practicality and relevance to youth, specific to how young people are learning and engaging with drama today.

Join us for a Creative Teacher Meet Up in Terms 2 and 4 to connect with your colleagues, exchange ideas and build your network of ACT region teachers, 22 May and 6 November (4–6pm).

TEACHER TESTIMONY
I have engaged Canberra Youth Theatre many times, seeking their industry expertise to deliver specialist activities in exciting ways. They deliver! They offer unique experiential learning for your Drama classes across all year levels. From Grotowski to Bogart, devising techniques to verbatim theatre, their artists appreciate the invaluable relationship that educators and industry professionals share in inspiring future generations of arts enthusiasts. I highly recommend their programs and will continue to capitalise on this local expertise for myself and my own students.
