Bursaries and Assistance
Canberra Youth Theatre wants to make sure that every young person can participate in our programs, especially when money is tight. We especially want to support young people who are:
- From different cultural backgrounds or speak languages other than English at home
- Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander
- From families with limited income
We offer bursaries and other assistance to help cover costs so that everyone has the chance to be part of what we do.
How can we help?
All invoices are due 7 days prior to the start of the program, or within 7 days of enrolment, whichever is relevant. Invoices do not need to be paid in one lump sum. If it is easier to make several, smaller payments prior to the due date, you can adjust the payment amount.
Payment Plans
We know fees can be a lot to pay all at once, so we offer payment plans to help spread out the cost and ease some of this financial pressure. You can pay in installments for most of our programs — except for holiday programs or one-day workshops (these need to be paid upfront before they start). For all other programs, you’ll need to pay the full amount by the halfway point of the program. This gives you time to manage the cost while still securing your spot in the program you want to join.
How Payment Plans Work
We’ll automatically charge your credit or debit card at regular intervals – you can choose to pay weekly, fortnightly, or monthly — whatever works best for you.
The payment schedule depends on when you sign up and what you prefer. This way, you don’t have to worry about remembering due dates – we’ll take care of it automatically.
To request a payment plan is set up, please follow the instructions in this document to add a debit or credit card to your account, then email info@canberrayouththeatre.com.au (or reply to the invoice you are wanting a payment plan for), and request a payment plan.
Bursaries
Thanks to the generous support of our donors, we can offer bursaries for any young person facing financial challenges – it doesn’t matter if this is your first time with us or you have been doing it for years. We don’t assess your applications based on your experience or skill level. If money is the only thing stopping you from joining us, we want to help make it possible. To support the most young artists, we offer the following bursary options:
- Partial (25%) bursary
- Partial (50%) bursary
- Partial (75%) bursary
- Full (100%) bursary
Bursaries can be accessed in two ways:
Organisational Referral
Canberra Youth Theatre will accept referrals from a number of organisations in the ACT region for bursary places. If you have a relationship with a support organisation, please ask your case worker to contact us on your behalf.
Self Referral
If you are not involved with a case worker or support organisation, you can self-refer in times of financial hardship. Please complete this FORM and send it to anna@canberrayouththeatre.com.au. We will assess the information provided, and contact you if we need any further information.
Sometimes we might need to cancel a workshop if not enough people sign up. If this happens, we’ll let you know as soon as possible and work with you to find the best alternative so you don’t miss out on participating with us.
