Keya McGeown Member
Keya McGeown is an award-winning Legal Counsel at SBS, admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of NSW, with experience in media law, intellectual property, and commercial law. She has worked in the Australian screen and media industry for almost a decade.
Keya advises on a broad range of legal, commercial and editorial matters across platforms, including content commissioning and production, rights and clearances, defamation and privacy, and Indigenous cultural and intellectual property (ICIP). She also has experience in governance, diversity and inclusion and stakeholder engagement including development and implementation of Indigenous cultural frameworks and protocols.
Keya is of Wakka Wakka and Irish heritage with a longstanding interest in the performing arts having participated in youth, state and school theatre from a young age. She now lives in Canberra with her fiancé and their dog, Artie.
