Join Our Creative Community
Canberra Youth Theatre membership is more than access to programs — it’s your connection to a community of young people and emerging artists. Membership supports your development as an artist and gives you a voice in shaping the future of youth theatre in the ACT.
Membership: $25 per year
This annual subscription unlocks access to our activities throughout the year. Workshops and training programs have separate fees. All participants must be current members of Canberra Youth Theatre.
What’s included?
- Enrol in training programs and workshops throughout the year
- Priority enrolment before non-members
- Eligibility to participate in productions (membership required for all cast members, but you do not need to be a member to audition)
- Participate in the Open Studio program for emerging artists
- Present work at Scratch nights
- Join creative developments and new work processes
- Participate in free creative engagement opportunities and community events, including collaborations with companies like Erth
- Stay connected to casting updates for external auditions and professional opportunities
- Opportunity to join our Youth Creative Council and shape our future direction
- Youth Hub access during office hours — a dedicated space for young artists to create, connect, collaborate, and chill out
- Self-tape studio access for auditions and showreels
- Emerging Artists room for meetings and work sessions
- Lending library of scripts, resources, and reference materials
- Member-exclusive events, opportunities, and announcements
Become a member
Most people join when they enrol in a workshop — the membership fee will appear on your first invoice of the year. Cast in a production? You’ll receive a membership invoice with your Actors Agreement if you’re not already a member.
Want to join without enrolling in a workshop right now? Enrol in ‘2026 Membership’ via our portal, and you will be issued an invoice.
Financial support
If cost is a barrier, we can help. We offer free or reduced-cost memberships to young people facing financial challenges. Request support when you enrol, or email us directly at info@canberrayouththeatre.com.au. Workshop bursaries automatically include membership fees. Financial support is made possible thanks to our donors and supporters.

Membership Clarification
Participation in Canberra Youth Theatre programs makes you a valued non-voting member of our creative community. However, program participants are not General Members of Canberra Youth Theatre Inc. (the incorporated association). Only individuals who have applied for and been accepted as General Members hold voting rights and governance responsibilities under our constitution. For information about becoming a General Member, please contact luke@canberrayouththeatre.com.au
Exemptions
Our annual 12 Hour Theatre Project doesn’t require membership — we keep this program completely free and accessible to all ACT young people.
Applicants for the Emerging Playwright Commission also aren’t required to be members.
