Introducing… Holly Johnson
Holly is one of three amazing emerging artists who joined the company as residents this year. We asked her a few questions to help you get to know her.
Tell us a little about yourself and the work that you do.
I’m an actor, budding director and passionate art historian. I recently graduated from ANU with a double bachelor of Art History & Curatorship Law. I like to make and act in interesting, intelligent and engaging theatre.
How did you discover your interest in theatre?
I discovered my interest at Canberra Youth Theatre when I was lucky to take part in there classes when I was in primary school. I then chased this interested throughout my school and university years.
What do you think is important for young people/young artists in 2020?
I think 2020 is revealed many systematic issues we as a society need to work and heal through together. It’s important that young people know their voice should be heard, listen and acted on.
What are you most excited for in your new role as Resident Artist?
I’m excited to be embedded in Canberra Youth Theatre and all the great stuff it does. I’m also excited to work and collaborate with the other artists.
What have you been reading/watching/listening to while things have been shut down?
I’ve been watching Normal People, The Loudest Voice in the Room and reading The Artists Way by Julia Cameron and a bunch of short stories form a range of different authors.
